Looking to elevate your plant-based cooking? Our umami sauce is the perfect companion for vegetarian dishes and tofu. Inspired by the traditional use of black garlic in Asian cuisine, it brings depth, balance, and irresistible umami to every bite.
You will need:
250 g tofu
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp Black Garlic seasoning sauce
1 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
Salt, pepper, and coriander, to taste
Instructions:
Pat the tofu dry on both sides before cutting to remove excess moisture.
Cut the tofu into cubes approximately 1½–2 cm in size.
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a wok or frying pan. Add salt and pepper directly to the oil.
Reduce the heat to medium and carefully add the tofu.
Cook the tofu for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the cubes are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
Remove the tofu from the pan and set aside.
Lightly toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan and set aside.
Add 2 tablespoons of Fifth Flavour umami sauce to the wok and heat over medium heat for about 1 minute.
Return the tofu to the pan, add the toasted sesame seeds, and toss quickly for a few seconds until the tofu is evenly coated and beautifully glazed. Avoid cooking for too long, as this may cause the tofu to lose its crispness.
Garnish with chives or coriander, according to your preference.
Serve immediately.
